The Tour monitoring task is the Security Patrol System (SPS) CheckPoint task that you use to monitor in real-time the progress of guard tours and personnel sweeps.
Tours
A tour is a collection of checkpoints along a defined route that security guards (cardholders) must reach; usually within a specified time. The guard's progress is recorded by Security Center and can be monitored by staff in the central office from the Tour monitoring task in Security Desk.Checkpoints
A checkpoint can be any entity in Security Center; including events, door readers, intrusion detection units, license plate reads, or any device that a cardholder can use to present a credential.
The Tour monitoring task
The Tour monitoring task is the Security Patrol System (SPS) CheckPoint task that you use to monitor in real-time the progress of guard tours and personnel sweeps. This task displays the name of your institution, the current date and time, and indicates the current state of each tour and its checkpoints.
Tours pane
The Tours pane is where you choose the tours you want to monitor.- To show your tour in this pane, in the plugin role, set this tour's Status to ON.
- To hide tours from this pane, set this tour's Status to OFF.
Inactive tours
When a selected tour is not in progress, the tour status shows Inactive, and all of the checkpoints are dark gray.
In progress tours
When a selected tour starts, the tour status changes to In progress, and the checkpoints that can be reached next turn yellow.
In the example, the tour is in progress and all of its checkpoints are yellow, which means that any checkpoint can be completed at any time.
The following image shows a tour that is in progress with only one yellow checkpoint. In this case, the yellow checkpoint is the one that must be reached next.
Late checkpoint
When a guard has not reached a checkpoint within the allotted time, the checkpoint turns red and a timer shows how much time has elapsed.
Late tour
When a guard has exceeded the allotted amount of time for the entire tour, the tour status changes to Late, and the timer shows how late it is.
Missed checkpoint
When a guard completes a checkpoint out of sequence, the checkpoint that was reached turns green, and the checkpoint that was missed remains yellow and is marked with an X.
This tour is configured as Complete checkpoints in order.
Controlling tours: Start, Pause, Resume, and Stop
- Start the tour.
- Pause the tour.
- Resume the tour.
- Stop the tour.
- Extend the deadline for a checkpoint.
If controlling the tour is not allowed, the buttons are dimmed.
This tour is configured as From the Tour monitoring task.
Paused tours
When you have paused a tour from the tour monitoring page, the status of the tour changes and the checkpoints become purple.
The amount of time the tour is paused is excluded from calculating if a checkpoint or tour is late. So, if a tour is 30 minutes late, and you pause the tour for 10 minutes, the tour is recorded as late by 30 minutes.
