A body-worn camera, also known as a wearable camera, is a video recording system that is used in law enforcement, retail, and industrial environments to record video in the field.
Body-worn camera stations
A body-worn camera station is a physical device or software used to automatically upload media from a body-worn camera to Clearance or the Wearable Camera Manager role in Security Center, depending on which .json file is used.
For information about using Clearance, see What is Clearance on the TechDoc Hub.
Wearable Camera Manager role
The Wearable Camera Manager role is used to configure and manage body-worn camera (BWC) devices in Security Center, including configuring camera stations, adding officers (wearable camera users), uploading content to an Archiver, and setting the retention period for uploaded evidence.
You can use this role when you do not or cannot upload your evidence data to the cloud (Genetec Clearance™), or when you want to access Security Center Archiver functions such as retention period.
You can then search body-worn camera archives using the Archives task in Security Desk.
- Number of cameras.
- Retention period of videos in the archives.
- Average recording size.
- The original .MP4 recording is converted to .G64 and stored in a database. This file is inaccessible to users.
- A .G64 file with both audio and video that is created in Security Center is stored in the Archiver. This file is accessible to users in Security Desk.
When using the Wearable Camera Manager role, the Genetec™ Server should use an NTP server. The servers for all associated Archiver roles should also be synchronized with this NTP server and the camera station's NTP time server must be configured.
