To allow cardholders or visitors access to secured areas using their mobile devices as
credentials, you can assign them mobile credentials.
What you should know
- In this procedure, it is assumed that you have already created the cardholder or visitor
in Security Center.
- Cardholders and visitors require a first name, last name, and email address for a mobile
credential to be assigned to them.
IMPORTANT: A mobile credential that has been activated (paired to a mobile device)
cannot be reused on another device, or assigned to another cardholder. If a cardholder loses
their mobile device or needs to change it, another credential can be issued to a different
device, even if the old credential still exists on the mobile credential provider side. The
Security Center operator can then delete the old credential or flag it as lost in
Security Center.
Procedure
-
Do one of the following:
- For cardholders, open the Cardholder management task, select
a cardholder, and then click Modify ().
- For visitors, open the Visitor management task, select a
visitor, and then click Modify ().
-
In the Credential section, click Add a
credential (), and then select Mobile
credential.
The
Mobile credential dialog box opens.
-
Select the mobile credential profile if there is more than one.
NOTE: Multiple mobile credentials using the same profile can be assigned to a single
cardholder, as long as each invitation to redeem a Mobile ID is accepted from a
different device.
To have multiple mobile credentials on the same device, each
credential must use a different profile.
-
Click OK.
The mobile credential is displayed in the Credential
section of the cardholder or visitor. The credential name and status are displayed.
Active indicates that the credential is assigned.
-
Click Save and close.
Results
An email invitation is sent to the cardholder containing an invitation code and a link
to download the mobile credential app. For the credential to be
activated on their
mobile device, the cardholder must redeem the Mobile ID by entering the invitation code in the
app. The cardholder picture configured in Security Center is automatically displayed in the
assigned mobile credential when the credential is activated on a mobile device.
If the
cardholder declines the invitation or the invitation expires, the credential remains
unused, and the mobile credential provider can assign it to the next cardholder who
needs it.
Security Center does not know that the requested mobile credential was not
accepted by the cardholder until the same mobile credential is assigned to someone else, at
which time, Security Center automatically removes it from the current
cardholder.
After you finish
View the status of the credential on the
Credentials page of the Mobile Credential Manager role. After the
Mobile ID is redeemed, the
Mobile credential status is
Active,
and the
Invitation status is
Acknowledged.
