Configure the Network Time Protocol (NTP) server on your access control units to ensure that they are all synchronized with the same clock. You can configure the NTP server from the Access Manager role Properties page, so that all the units under that role are configured the same.

Before you begin

This procedure applies to the following access control units:
  • Synergis™ Cloud Link
  • Legacy Synergis™ Cloud Link
  • Cloud Link Roadrunner™
  • Axis Powered by Genetec
Depending on your units, ensure that they are running the following firmware versions:
  • Synergis Softwire 11.4.0 or later
  • Synergis Cloud Link 2.1.0 or later
  • Cloud Link Roadrunner 2.1.0 or later

What you should know

The NTP server configured at the Access Manager level overrides the NTP server configured in the units' portals, and applies to all the units under that Access Manager role. You can also configure a different NTP server for each unit from the unit's Properties page, which overrides the configuration at the Access Manager level.

Procedure

To configure the NTP server for all units under the same Access Manager role:

  1. From the Config Tool homepage, open the Access control task, and then click the Roles and units view.
  2. From the entity tree, select the Access Manager role you want to configure, and click the Properties tab.
  3. On the Properties page, turn on the Assign NTP server option.
    The Address field appears.
  4. Enter the NTP server address that you want all the access control units under this Access Manager to use.
  5. Click Apply.

To configure the NTP server for individual access control units:

  1. From the Config Tool homepage, open the Access control task, and then click the Roles and units view.
  2. From the entity tree, select the access control unit you want to configure, and click the Properties tab.
  3. On the Properties page, in the General settings section, turn on the Override NTP server option.
    The Address field appears.
  4. Enter the NTP server address that you want the access control unit to use.
  5. Click Apply.

After you finish

For legacy Synergis Cloud Link units running production image version 3.x, perform a software restart to apply the change.
