When the toggle function is enabled, OSS Standard Offline cards work like mechanical keys. When a cardholder badges their card at the door, the door unlocks and only relocks when the cardholder badges their card again, or when the schedule applied to the door ends.

What you should know

  • The toggle function is useful when someone must frequently enter and exit an area within a short amount of time.
Example: In the context of a hotel, you can apply the toggle function to the cleaning staff, so that they can go in and out of rooms without having to unlock the door each time.
  • Not all locks support the toggle function. For more information, see the lock manufacturer's documentation.
  • The method for triggering the toggle function at the door varies per lock manufacturer. For example, for U&Z and ASSA ABLOY locks, you must leave the card on the lock for 5 - 7 seconds. For more information, see the lock manufacturer's documentation.

Procedure

  1. From the Config Tool or Security Desk homepage, open the Cardholder management task.
  2. Select a cardholder for which you want to enable the toggle function, and then click Modify.
  3. Expand the Advanced section.
  4. Turn on the Trigger code option.
Example: The value associated to the trigger code does not affect the toggle function.
Advanced settings of a cardholder showing the Trigger code option enabled.
  5. Click Save and close.
