To define the access rights of cards that are used with offline locks, you must encode the cards with OSS Standard Offline configurations in Security Center. This must be done using a STid USB reader that is set up as an encoding station.

What you should know

  • You cannot encode cards from the Credential management task, the cardholder creation wizard, or the credential creation wizard.
  • When the value of the Max blacklist entries setting is lower than the number of entries already in Security Center, the card cannot be updated with the full blacklist. Only the most recent entries are encoded on the card, up to the maximum number of entries configured.
  • To encode a card with both standard and OSS Standard Offline configurations at the same time, an OSS Standard Offline configuration must be the highest configuration on the list of selected configurations. To change the order of configurations, use the arrows beside the MIFARE DESFire configuration list on the Configuration page of the MIFARE DESFire configuration task.

Procedure

  1. From the Config Tool or Security Desk homepage, open the Cardholder management task.
  2. Select a cardholder for which you want to encode a card, and then click Modify.
  3. In the Credential section, click Add a credential > Automatic entry.
  4. In the Automatic entry dialog box, select STid USB reader from the list.
  5. Select the OSS Standard Offline configuration that you want to encode the card with.
    Example:

  6. When the reader LED turns red, place the card on the reader for approximately 2 seconds.
The reader LED turns yellow and then green with a short beep before turning off. If you hear a long beep and the LED stays red, try again.

Results

The dialog box closes automatically after an eligible card is presented, and the encoded card is assigned to the cardholder.
