If you’ve installed a certificate from a trusted source on a Security Center server, you must also install the same certificate on client workstations connected to that server. Otherwise, you encounter certificate errors

Before you begin

You need the following items:
  • The certificate that has been installed on the Security Center server
  • The password for the private key used to generate the certificate

What you should know

There are two ways to install a certificate on a workstation:
  • Without using Config Tool (Recommended): Install the certificate on any workstation in your Security Center network, including servers that don't have client applications installed.
  • Using Config Tool: Install the certificate on a workstation in your Security Center network that has Config Tool installed.

Procedure

(Recommended) Install a certificate on a workstation without using Config Tool

  1. Copy the certificate to the workstation.
  2. Right-click on the certificate and click Install PFX.

  3. In the Store Location section, select Local Machine and click Next.
  4. In the File to import window, click Next.
The File name field should already be populated, but if necessary, navigate to the certificate that you want to install.
  5. Enter the password for the private key and click Next.
  6. Select Place all certificates in the following store and browse to Trusted Root Certification Authorities. Click OK and then Next.
  7. Click Finish to complete the certificate installation.

  6. Select Place all certificates in the following store and browse to Trusted Root Certification Authorities. Click OK and then Next.
  7. Verify the information and click Finish. You should see a window stating that the import was successful. Click OK on both windows to close them.

After you finish

Verify that the certificate was installed correctly. For example, when you log on to Security Desk on the client workstation, the green Trusted Directory notification indicates successful installation.
