To simplify unit replacement, you can copy settings from one unit to different units, different models, or units from different manufacturers. You can link the video recordings from the source unit to the destination, as well as re-link doors, alarms, event-to-actions, automations, and maps.

Before you begin

  • Ensure that the unit being replaced is offline before starting the Unit replacement tool.
  • Ensure that you have the correct privileges and roles.
  • Ensure that you have backed up the database.

If the destination unit is the same model as the source, all supported settings are copied to the new unit.

If the destination unit is from a different manufacturer or model, the replacement process copies some settings and adapts others depending on compatibility.

Procedure

  1. From the Config tool homepage, click Tools > Unit replacement.
Unit replacement displaying the supported unit types
  2. On the Source page, choose the unit type, access control unit, camera, or ALPR unit.
All entities corresponding to that unit type are displayed.
  3. Select the source unit and click Next.
This unit is the source to copy the settings from.
  4. On the Destination page, choose the destination unit type.
Only one selection is available because unit replacement allows one-to-one replacement.
  5. On the Options page, select the associations and settings that you want to copy and click Replace.
  6. On the Outcome page, check for warnings and results:
The status of the unit replacement is displayed with results for each category.
    1. If there are any warnings, click More details to view information with the results.
    2. (Optional) Click Export results.
The error log is exported as a .CSV file and contains detailed results.
  7. Click Close.
