On a large scale deployment, Security Center can federate thousands of independent remote systems. However, there are hardware and software limitations you must consider.
The number of Federation™ roles you can host on a single
server depends on the following:
- Number of Federation roles you are hosting.
- Type of computer running the Genetec™ Server service. For more information, see Security Center 5.12 server requirements.
Federation role groups
When many Federation roles are hosted on the same server, to maximize the number of roles on this server, they must be divided into multiple role groups. All roles belonging to the same role group are run by the same process.
The following table helps determine the maximum number of roles that can be hosted in a
role group and the maximum number of role groups that can be hosted on a server.
NOTE: These calculations assume that each federated system has approximately 150
cameras or doors. Also, a single server can run up to 100 Federation roles without any
role group configuration.
Low & Medium capacity servers | High-capacity server | |
---|---|---|
Max roles per role group | 100 | 100 |
Max role groups | Contact Genetec Technical Assistance Center (GTAC) | 5 |
Max roles | Contact GenetecTechnical Assistance Center (GTAC) | 500 |
You can design a large system using the following rules:
-
- If Nb of role groups < 1, any capacity server is sufficient with no role group configuration needed.
- If Nb of role groups > 1, then a high-capacity server is recommended.
You want to federate 2 000 Security Center systems. You can determine the number of
required servers as follows:
- 20 role groups require high-capacity servers.
