The Access Manager role manages and monitors access control units on the system.
The Access Manager keeps the units updated with the access control settings configured in Security Center. This way, the units can make independent access control decisions whether they are connected to the Access Manager or not. The updates are done in real-time or on a schedule.
The Access Manager also logs the access control events in the database for access control investigation and maintenance reports. The role forwards all events generated by units through the Directory to the concerned parties on the system.
Multiple instances of the Access Manager role can be created on the system. Each role must be created on a different server.
Limitations
- After the Access Manager restarts, it reconnects to all the access control units, and the units' input states are synched. While the Access Manager is offline, the input states are considered Unknown, and the states synched after the restart are therefore considered changes. Because of this, alarms that are linked to input state changes can be triggered.
- Starting in Security Center 5.10.2.0, events beyond a time threshold in the future aren't reported to the Access Manager role database. However, warnings are shown in the Windows Event Viewer logs that these future events were filtered out.
