To accommodate seasonal cardholders, you can create and assign temporary access rules. Temporary access rules are useful for cardholders such as students who are enrolled during a semester or permanent cardholders who need short-term access to a restricted area.

What you should know

A temporary access rule includes both an activation time and an expiration time. The system automatically deletes temporary access rules seven days after they expire to keep the system organized. By default, access rules are configured to grant cardholder access. Use explicit deny schedules only for exceptions. For more information, see Creating access rules.
NOTE: Assign a temporary access rule to one cardholder at a time from the Cardholder management task. To assign a temporary access rule to multiple cardholders or cardholder groups, update the access rule properties in Config Tool. For Security Desk users to be able to create temporary access rules, you need to grant them the Add access rules privilege.
