The revalidation period defines how long a card remains valid. After expiration, the card cannot open offline locks or be blocklisted until it is updated at a reader. You can set the revalidation period at both the system and cardholder levels.

What you should know

By default, the revalidation period is set to 7 days at the system level. At the cardholder level, the revalidation period is undefined. The system-level value is synchronized with all Synergis™ units managed by Access Manager roles that have the Manage offline doors option enabled. If a revalidation period is specified at the cardholder level, it overrides the system-level value.

The validity expiration date is calculated by adding the revalidation period to the date on which the card is updated.

Example: In this example, the revalidation period is set to 8 days in Security Center. The cardholder badges to update their card on March 12. The date until which the card is valid is updated to March 20. However, if the revalidation period is defined as 12 days for this cardholder, then the card will expire on March 24.

Procedure

To configure the revalidation period at the system level:

  1. From the Config Tool homepage, open the Access control task.
  2. Click the General settings tab.
  3. Scroll to the bottom and enter the desired value in Global revalidation period.
  4. Click Apply.
  5. Restart Config Tool and Security Desk.

To configure the revalidation period at the cardholder level:

  1. Open the Cardholder management task.
  2. Select the cardholder that you want to modify and click Modify.
The Modify cardholder dialog box opens.
  3. Click Advanced and enter the desired value in Offline revalidation period.
  4. Click Save and close.
