The Copy configuration tool simplifies the process of configuring many similar entities. You can copy the settings from one entity to other entities of the same type.

Before you begin

The Copy configuration tool can copy different settings depending on the entity type.

The copy process adapts the source configuration to the destination entity when the two entities are not exactly the same (for example, when the source and destination cameras are different brands or models).

IMPORTANT: The Copy configuration tool doesn’t work on federated entities.

For the following entities only, you can use the Unit replacement tool to copy configuration settings from the old unit to the new unit during the replacement process:

Access control units: See Replacing access control units.
Cameras: See Replacing cameras.
Sharp units: See Replacing Sharp units.

Procedure

In Config tool, open the Copy configuration tool.
Do one of the following:
- From the homepage, click Tools > Copy configuration tool.
- Right-click an entity in any entity tree and select Copy > Copy configuration tool.
Select an entity type and click Next.
On the Source page, select which entity you want to copy the settings from and click Next.
On the Options page, select the settings you want to copy and click Next.

On the Destinations page, select the entities you want to copy the settings to and then click Start.
On the Outcome page, check the progress and results of the configuration copy.
The status of the process is displayed with the results for each category. Only the results of partial copies are displayed.
NOTE: The detailed output is only available for cameras.
1. Click an entity to view in-depth details.
  The Results pane opens.
2. If there are warnings, click More details to view additional information.
3. (Optional) Click Export results.
  The error log is exported as a .csv file that contains detailed results.
When the copying process is complete, click Close.

After you finish

Test the settings of the entities that you copied settings to. For example, check motion detection and color on cameras. You might need to adjust settings based on camera location or other factors.
