To use a hotlist in Security Center, you must create the hotlist and configure it for your enforcement scenario.
What you should know
- Hotlists can be used with any type of AutoVu™ fixed or mobile system.
- If an existing hotlist is not assigned to an ALPR Manager role, it is shown as offline. All new hotlists are automatically assigned to an ALPR Matcher role and displayed as online, unless the Matcher role is offline.
- You can configure Security Center to prompt the Genetec Patroller™ operator to add extra license plate hit details that are not included in the hit metadata sent by the Sharp camera. For more information, see Adding enforced hit attributes in Patroller.
Procedure
-
From the Config Tool homepage, click ALPR > Hotlists, and then click Hotlist (
).
The Creating a hotlist wizard opens. -
In the Basic information tab, type a name for the hotlist in the
Entity name field.
You can enter an optional entity description.
- For the Owner field, select the required ALPR Matcher you want to assign the hotlist to.
- (Optional) Select Location and Partition.
-
Set the priority of the hotlist using the Priority slider.
Zero (0) is the highest priority setting and 100 is the lowest. If a plate read matches more than one hotlist, the hotlist with the highest priority is displayed first in the list of hotlist matches.
-
(Optional) To limit how long hits generated from this
hotlist can remain in the database, turn on Hotlist retention and
configure the maximum duration in days.
NOTE: Hotlist retention cannot exceed the hit retention period defined in the ALPR Manager settings. For more information on the ALPR Manager hit retention period, see Configuring the ALPR Manager role.
-
(Optional) To prohibit users from editing this hotlist in Security Desk, turn off the
Visible in editor option.
To edit a hotlist in Security Desk, users require the Hotlist and permit editor privilege.
-
Select the required template to accurately create the columns and split the fields in
your hotlist.
NOTE: In the current release, the Default and NCIC templates are available by default.
-
Configure the hotlist Attributes options and click
Next.
For more information, see Configuring hotlist and permit attributes.
- On the Import tab, select the Import mode and follow the respective steps.
-
If you selected Hotlist path, enter the Hotlist
path on the computer where the source text file is located.
If you start typing a path to a network drive, you might have to enter a username and password to access the network drive.NOTE: The Windows credentials that you enter must have read/write access to the hotlist file.
-
If you selected SFTP, do the following:
- Enter the Hotlist path where the source file is located.
- Enter a Username to access the file.
- (Optional) If there is a specific credential that needs to be used, turn on the Use credential and enter password.
- (Optional) If there is private key that needs to be used, turn on the required toggle button between path and value. Accordingly enter the path or value to be used.
- (Optional) Turn on Validate server public key fingerprint.
-

- (Optional) If there is certificate that needs to be used, turn on the required toggle button between path and store. Accordingly enter the path or value to be used.
-
If the attribute fields in the source text file vary in length, turn on the
Use delimiters option, and enter the type of character
(delimiter) used to separate each field.
By default, the option is turned on, and the delimiter specified is a semi-colon (;). If your source text file is made up of fixed-length fields, turn off the Use delimiters option. Security Center supports the following delimiters:
- Colon (:)
- Comma (,)
- Semi-colon (;)
- Tab (type “Tab”)
IMPORTANT: If your source list file uses a tab as a delimiter, only use one tab space. Do not use more than one Tab space to align columns in your file, or Security Center might be unable to parse the hotlist. -
In the Scheduling section, select how often the hotlist needs to
be updated.
The hotlist is always updated from the source file. Any modifications made in the Security Center are automatically deleted each time the source file is imported.
-
To import only a specific type of hotlist records, enter a Category
filter in the Extra configuration section.
If your source hotlist contains both stolen and wanted records, and you want to create the hotlist only for Stolen record, you can specify S in the Category filtering field.
