You can enable redundant archiving at the level of the Archiver role, the failover server, or individual cameras.

What you should know

  • Redundant archiving ensures that multiple servers can archive video at the same time and that they each manage their own copy of the video archive.
  • You can set up redundant archiving on all cameras managed by the Archiver role or protect just a few important cameras.
  • There are several ways to enable redundant archiving:
    • Archiver role level: All servers archive video at the same time.
    • Per-server level: One of the failover servers archives video at the same time as the primary server and the other failover server stays on standby.
    • Individual camera level: Custom settings for individual cameras override any per-server redundant archiving configuration. All servers archive video and audio at the same time.

Procedure

To enable redundant archiving on the Archiver role level:

  1. From the Config Tool homepage, open the Video task and click the Roles and units view.
  2. Select the primary Archiver and click the Camera default setting tab.
  3. Click Show advanced settings.
  4. Turn on the Redundant archiving option.
  5. Click Apply.

To enable redundant archiving on a per-server level:

  1. From the Config Tool homepage, open the Video task and click the Roles and units view.
  2. Select the primary Archiver and click the Camera default setting tab.
  3. In the Per-server settings section, turn on the Custom settings per server option.
A section appears with tabs for each server assigned to the Archiver role.
  4. Open the failover server tab that you want to enable redundant archiving.
The per-server settings section of an archiver shows the Redundant archiving option.
  5. Turn on the Redundant archiving option.
  6. Click Apply.

To enable redundant archiving on an individual camera level:

  1. From the Config Tool homepage, open the Video task and click the Roles and units view.
  2. Select the camera to configure and click the Recording tab.
  3. In the Recording settings area, select Custom settings.
  4. Turn on the Redundant archiving option.
  5. Click Apply.
