To avoid obstructing information on the map, adjust a map layer’s opacity and set map
object icons to automatically scale with the zoom level.
What you should know
Security Desk users cannot change a map layer’s opacity or enable auto-scale. These
settings are available only in Config Tool.
Procedure

In the Map designer task, do one of the following:
- In the toolbar, click Map layers (
).
- In the menu, click .
The Layers dialog box opens and lists all available
layers for the map. Only selected layers are visible on the map.

Click the name of the layer you want to modify and click Modify
layer (
).

In the Modify layer dialog box, drag the
Opacity slider until you get the desired effect on
the map.

Control when map objects are visible on a map by doing one of the
following:
- Set the Visible from zoom percentages to define
the range of zoom levels at which a map object layer is visible.
- Select Auto scale to automatically scale map
objects on a layer as the zoom level changes.
NOTE: Auto scale is
only available on geographic and georeferenced image maps. For more

Repeat with other layers if necessary.

In the Map designer toolbar, click
Save (
