Windows Firewall can block network traffic destined for Security Center. If not done during installation, you need to manually set exceptions to prevent communication problems between different Security Center components.

During the installation process of Security Center, choose the option Allow Genetecâ„¢ Security Center 5.x to create necessary firewall rules for its applications. If you do not select this option, you need to set exceptions in the firewall to allow the proper traffic flow to and from Security Center.

There are two ways to configure the exceptions for Windows Firewall:
  • Adding exception rules for each application and opening specific ports used by these applications
  • Let the Security Center Installer create the exception rules for you.
If you are configuring the exception rules yourself, we recommend that you do it for both ports and applications.

To get the list of specific ports used by Security Center, see Which firewall ports are used in Security Center?.
