Windows Firewall can block network traffic destined for Security Center. If not done during installation, you need to manually set exceptions to prevent communication problems between different Security Center components.
During the installation process of Security Center, choose the option Allow Genetecâ„¢ Security Center 5.x to create necessary firewall rules for its applications. If you do not select this option, you need to set exceptions in the firewall to allow the proper traffic flow to and from Security Center.
- Adding exception rules for each application and opening specific ports used by these applications
- Let the Security Center Installer create the exception rules for you.
To get the list of specific ports used by Security Center, see Which firewall ports are used in Security Center?.

Each version of Windows has a slightly different way of allowing firewall configuration. For more information about how to do it with your particular version of the OS, see the Microsoft Support website: https://support.microsoft.com.
