Windows Firewall can block network traffic destined for Security Center. You need to manually set exceptions to prevent communication problems between different Security Center components if this wasn’t configured during installation.

During the installation process of Security Center, choose the option Allow Genetec™ Security Center 5.x to automatically create firewall rules. If you don’t select this option, you need to set exceptions in the firewall to allow the proper traffic flow to and from Security Center.

There are two ways to configure the exceptions for Windows Firewall:
  • Add exception rules for each application and open specific ports used by these applications.
  • Let the Security Center Installer create the exception rules for you.
If you’re configuring the exception rules yourself, we recommend that you do it both for ports and for applications.

  • [INSTALLDIR] is the Security Center installation directory. For example, C:\Program Files (x86)\Genetec Security Center 5.x.
  • [GUS_INSTALLDIR] is the Genetec™ Update Service installation directory. For example, C:\Program Files (x86)\Genetec Update Service.
  • SIPELIAGATEWAY_INSTALLDIR is the Genetec™ Sipelia Gateway installation directory. For example, C:\Program Files (x86)\Genetec Sipelia Gateway
