The Windows users running Security Center services, including the Genetecâ„¢ Server service, require administrator privileges to perform all of their tasks.

If the services are not running as a local system, it is a best practice to have the services running explicitly as administrator. The user running the services needs to have the following:

  • Windows level access to applications that are necessary to run the Security Center software.
  • Modify, read, and write access to all drives the Archiver records on and all drives where logs are saved.
  • Public and processAdmin access to the servers hosting the SQL databases used by Security Center roles. For the exact roles you need, see About connecting to SQL Server with an account that has administrative privileges .

For a failover configuration, if two Directory servers are accessing the same SQL database on a remote server, the two servers need Windows credentials that have access to the SQL database.

Each version of Windows has a slightly different way of configuring administrator users. For more information about how to do it with your particular version of the OS, see the Microsoft Support web site.
