Using geofenced areas of interest, you can automatically monitor movement, trigger
events, and generate reports based on the entry and exit of AVL units from specific areas.
If you do not have specific areas of interest to monitor, then you do not need to configure
these settings.
Before you begin
- Create an AVL unit entity.
- Create a map area. For instructions, refer to the Security Center
Administrator Guide.
What you should know
Areas of interest are map areas that are configured to trigger entry and exit
events when vehicles with AVL units enter or exit those areas. These events add
bookmarks to video from every camera associated with the vehicle. The events can also be
used to generate reports and visual graphs.
Procedure
-
From the Config Tool home page, open the Area view
task.
-
In the entity tree, select the AVL unit of interest, and then click the
Areas of interest tab.
-
For the Receive events for option, select one of the
following:
-
All areas: All area entities are geofenced areas
of interest.
- Use speed threshold
- Activate this setting to trigger an event when the
associated vehicle is in any area of interest and exceeds
the defined speed threshold.
- Speed threshold
- The speed threshold that, when exceeded by the associated
vehicle in any area of interest, triggers an event.
- ALPR filters
- (Optional) Choose to apply ALPR filters to classify the area
of interest as a bus lane or bus stop. This setting is used
to determine which zone of the ALPR camera is used to detect
license plates while in the geofence.
-
Specific areas: Only selected area entities are
geofenced areas of interest.
NOTE: If you selected
Specific
