Data transfer settings control the conditions that data offloads and exports operate on and affect what kind of data, such as vehicle data or video, are offloaded. They also control how the data transfer process operates.
Offloads are when vehicle data is transferred from vehicles in your fleet to your main
system. Exports are when vehicle data is extracted from the system for viewing in Genetec
Clearance™ or using the offline player.
Example: Vehicle
data can be offloaded from a transit bus and then exported to create files that can be
played with the external player, or sent to Clearance.
NOTE: The following settings are applied by default when data is
offloaded using the Fleet Monitoring plugin. Users can override them for each
export that is performed if the User can override setting is enabled.
If the Export after offload setting is enabled during an offload,
the settings listed here are used for the export.
Setting name | Description |
---|---|
Default export settings | |
Export type | Select the default method used to export your data. You can export to the local or Network File System, or to Clearance. |
MP4 video format | When selected, video is exported in MP4 format. |
Include player | When selected, a video player is included in exports so that video can be played. |
Compress results | When selected, exports are compressed to a single file to facilitate sending to other parties. |
Encryption | When selected, exports are encrypted to enhance information security. NOTE: Playback of encrypted exports requires the encryption password
to be shared with the receiving party.
|
Show attributes | When selected, vehicle attributes are included in exports. |
Show health metadata | When selected, health metadata related to AVL unit function is included in exports. |
Stale data threshold | Select a time period after which the icons representing AVL units on the map turn gray because no new data has been received. |
Run export on | Choose to process exports on either your local computer or the main system’s server. |
User can override | When selected, users can override the default export settings. |
Default offload settings | |
Destination Archiver | Select the Archiver where offloads are stored. |
Offload video data | Choose the video that is included in offloads by default. When All is selected, all video recorded during the offload time frame is included. When Specific is selected, you can choose to offload only video that occurred around alarms, events, or other triggers. |
Automatic offload on | Select the events that trigger automatic offloads. |
Automatic offload areas | Select the geofenced areas to trigger automatic offloads when a vehicle enters. |
Raise event on | Select the data offload actions that cause an event to be raised. |
Max items in progress per AVL unit | Select the maximum number of items that can be processed at once for each AVL unit. This value should be set according to system resource availability. |
Require Wi-Fi connection | When selected, offloads only occur when the vehicle is connected to Wi-Fi. |
Cancel video transfer on Wi-Fi disconnect | When selected, in-progress video offloads are automatically canceled if the Wi-Fi connection is lost. If the Wi-Fi connection is reestablished, the offloads are re-queued. |
Require recent location data | When selected, recent geographical location data is required for a vehicle data offload. |
General offload settings | |
Prioritize manual offloads | When selected, manual offloads are prioritized over automatic offloads. |
Chunk size | Select the amount of vehicle data offloaded at once. Reducing this value lowers timeout risk but extends the overall offload time due to requiring more chunks. |
Max AVL units in progress | Select the maximum number of vehicles that can offload data simultaneously, based on available resources. |
Offload monitoring interval | Select the update interval at which the server evaluates the offloads to see if it can start new ones. |
Status page update interval | Select the refresh interval, in seconds, for the AVL data offload status task. After this period, the status is updated to show the latest offloads. This default setting can be overridden in the AVL data offload status task. |
Completed status timeout | Select the duration before completed offloads are cleared from the AVL data offload status task. |
Video offload pending timeout | Select the duration that a video offload can be pending before it is canceled and must be re-queued. This timeout period is used to detect problems where the archive transfer manager has not started the "duplicate archives" task. |
Video offload in progress timeout | Set the duration that a video offload can be in progress before cancellation and re-queueing. This timeout period is used to detect problems where the archive manager has stopped communicating with the system. |
AVL data query timeout | Set the timeout period for the Fleet Monitoring plugin's query to the Vehicle Monitoring plugin for offloading vehicle data. |
Archive loss warning | When selected, a warning appears in the My offloads task when the video you offloaded is near the end of its retention period in the headend Archiver. If you want to keep the offloaded data, you should perform an export. |
Video offload ignore no other Archiver errors | When selected, offloads for which the destination is the same as the source are marked as completed instead of generating an error. |
Offload incident titles | Specify titles that can be used when choosing to create an incident as part of a manual offload. |
Automatic offload settings | |
Offload | Choose to include video, AVL data, or both in your automatic vehicle data offloads. |
Include health metadata | When selected, metadata related to the health of your on-board devices like cameras and sensors is included in your automatic offloads. |
Look back time | Select how far back in time to search for data to offload. |
Minimum delay for same vehicle | Select a minimum time period that must elapse between automatic offloads for the same vehicle. |
Minimum delay for previously failed item | Select a minimum time period that must elapse before a previously failed offload chunk is automatically re-queued. |
Maximum failures allowed per item | Select the maximum number of times a failed chunk of an offload is re-queued automatically. |
Maximum offload | Set the maximum duration for AVL data and video offloads. Configure this setting to tune the performance of automatic offloads based on your system architecture, available bandwidth, storage space or other capabilities. |
Minimum offload | Set the minimum duration for AVL data and video offloads. Configure this setting to tune the performance of automatic offloads based on your system architecture, available bandwidth, storage space or other capabilities. |
Overlap | Set the overlap duration for offload chunks to ensure no gaps between offloaded videos. |
Offload order | Start offloads with either the oldest or newest data. |
Create incident | When selected, a Security Center incident is created when an automatic offload is initiated. |
Manual offload settings | |
Maximum offload | Select the maximum amount of video and vehicle data that can be manually offloaded at one time. |
Default retries | Set the number of retry attempts for failed manual offloads to prevent endless retries for issues needing intervention. |
Default retry interval | Select the amount of time that must pass between retries of manual offloads. This time limit provides time to resolve system issues that caused an offload to fail before the system starts a retry attempt. |
Default notify on completion | Select this setting so that the Notify on completion section of the AVL data offload task is activated by default. |
Default notify by email | When selected, an email is sent to selected users upon completion of the offload. |
Default notify by message | When selected, a Security Center message is sent to selected users upon completion of the offload. |
Default notify by event | When selected, an event is raised upon completion of the offload. |
Default users to notify | Select the users who are automatically notified upon completion of the offload. |
Default notification settings override | When selected, users can override these defaults, and choose which users are notified of offload completions and the methods by which they are notified. |
