From the Maps and Monitoring tasks, you can use the Locate AVL unit feature to quickly find vehicles with AVL units and view their real-time positions.

Procedure

Finding vehicles on maps using the Locate me feature from the Monitoring task.

  1. From the Security Desk homepage, open the Monitoring task.
  2. From the entity tree, right-click an AVL unit and click Locate AVL unit.
The Maps task opens and centers on the current location of the vehicle.
  3. To find another vehicle when the Maps task is already open, type AVL: <vehicle> into the search bar, where <vehicle> is the vehicle identifier designation, and then press Enter.

Finding vehicles on maps using the Locate me feature from the Maps task.

  1. From the Security Desk homepage, open the Maps task.
  2. Click AVL unit(s) ().
  3. Select the AVL unit of interest or search for the AVL unit using the text box and click Locate AVL unit.
Best Practice: The list of AVL units does not automatically refresh when the map is opened. If AVL units are added while the map is open, you must click the Refresh button to show them.
The AVL unit is located on the map and the map zooms in and centers on the AVL unit.
  4. Optional: If you must follow the AVL unit as it moves around the map, click Start tracking.
The AVL unit is followed on the map and re-centered whenever new GPS data is received.
