Map settings customize map, geofence, and default areas of interest settings related to the area your fleet operates in.

Setting name Description
Map settings
Stale data threshold Set the time period after which a vehicle's map icon turns gray, indicating the data is old and possibly outdated.
Icon timeout Set the time period after which a vehicle's map icon is removed if it hasn't recently provided location data.
Entity query interval Select the time interval after which the map object provider queries AVL unit entities to ensure that you continue receiving events. To deactivate this feature, set it to zero.
Show speed When selected, icon labels on the map show vehicle speed.
Default popup view Select the default view that is displayed when you click on an AVL unit on the map. You can choose from location, camera, map, or other information types your vehicle is recording.
NOTE: The options consist of the information provided by the GPS unit, cameras, and other devices installed on the vehicle. If no devices are installed, no information is available here.
AVL unit filters
Add () Add metadata rules as custom filters for AVL units on maps. Once configured, apply these filters in the Maps task to display vehicles matching the specified metadata rules.
Geofence settings
Geofence processing type Assign either the Fleet Monitoring or Vehicle Monitoring plugin to handle geofence processing.
NOTE: The Vehicle Monitoring plugin detects geofences, while the Fleet Monitoring plugin handles geofence entry and exit events. Ensure that the Vehicle Monitoring plugin is properly configured.
Use imported geofences When selected, you can import previously configured geofences from a KML file.
Default areas of interest configuration
Receive events for Select whether to receive events for all areas, specific areas, or no areas. If selecting specific areas, choose each area for event notifications.
NOTE:
  • Areas of interest are considered geofences.
  • Areas of interest trigger entry and exit events for vehicles with AVL units, adding bookmarks to video from associated cameras. These events can be used to generate reports.
