Security Center 5.12.0.0 includes the following platform enhancements.
General enhancements
- Omnicast Federation disabled
- In Security Center 5.12.0.0 and later, Omnicast™ Federation™ is disabled and no longer supported. Remove all Omnicast Federation roles before upgrading your system. For more information, see Removing Omnicast Federation before upgrading Security Center.
- Add a custom logo to PDF reports
- To enhance the look and feel of reports, you can now add a custom logo to the
top-right corner of all reports that are exported as a PDF. For more information, see
Report Manager configuration tabs.
- Custom field support in the Unified report
- You can now add conditions based on custom fields when you use the Unified report investigation task. For more information, see Investigating record types.
- Automatically disconnect inactive users
- To
increase security, you can now enable the Auto
disconnect option in the User management task. When
enabled,
users
automatically log off from their Config Tool and Security Desk
sessions after a set period of inactivity. For more information, see Customizing user logon options in
Config Tool.
- Disable event-to-actions
- To prevent unwanted behavior during maintenance or troubleshooting, you can now
disable event-to-actions without affecting the settings. For more
information, see Modifying event-to-actions.
- Automatic replacement of camera associations
- To avoid losing alarms and event-to-actions associated with a camera when it is replaced, the Unit replacement tool now automatically associates them with the new camera. This automatic association streamlines the camera replacement process and reduces human error. For more information, see Replacing cameras.
- Avoid forwarding alarms unnecessarily
- You can now set an alarm to be forwarded to recipients up to 20 days after it is
triggered, with the delay measured in seconds. This helps to avoid forwarding an
unresolved alarm to an operator while a field user investigates it. For more information, see
About alarms.
- Live recording privilege for Genetec Mobile
- A new privilege was added for mobile streaming. When a user streams video captured from their mobile device, that device counts as an additional camera in your system and occupies one of the limited camera connections available in your Security Center license. You can now control who can stream from Genetec™ Mobile and better manage your camera connections, bandwidth, and storage requirements.
- Set entities to maintenance mode automatically
- To help streamline troubleshooting and maintenance, you can now set entities to maintenance mode automatically using hot actions, scheduled tasks, or event-to-actions. For more information, see Setting entities in maintenance mode.
- Uninstall earlier client versions
- To save integrators time and effort, a new option in the Security Center installer automatically removes earlier client versions during an upgrade of desktop clients. Associated driver packs are also uninstalled. This option is available when upgrading clients manually or in silent mode.
- Genetec patent page link
- Security Center now provides a quick way to access the list of patents of products marketed and sold by Genetec Inc. and its subsidiaries. To view our patents, see About Security Center.
- Select which entity types to synchronize from a federated system
- To provide greater flexibility and performance, Security Center Federation™ now allows
you to choose which entity types are synchronized from federated systems. For more information, see Creating and configuring a Security Center Federation role.
- Customize time zone settings for event time stamps in automated reports
- In the properties of the Report Manager, you can now set the time zone for time stamps in automatically exported or emailed reports You can select your preferred time zone or use the one associated with the location of the device that triggers an event. This is especially useful if your system uses Security Center SaaS edition servers, which run on UTC time and generate time stamps based on that time zone by default.
- Customize Security Desk background color
- To help you reserve threat levels for serious situations, you can now customize the background color of all Security Center workstations using a hot action, scheduled task, or event-to-action. Background colors triggered by a threat level override the custom background color.
- Updated libSRTP library
- The libSRTP library was updated from version 2.3.0 to version 2.5.0 as part of the regular maintenance of the Secure RTP integration.
- Ownership of entities can switch between a role and Security Center
- For easier migration of existing cardholders, credentials, users, and more, you can
now release the ownership of access control entities to your local Security Center
system when you delete a Federation™ or Active Directory role. If the role is recreated,
it can reclaim ownership of the entities that were released.
For more information, see About releasing or reclaiming ownership of entities from a role.
- Integration of Sipelia installer
- Now that Sipelia is included in the Security Center base package, we have integrated its installer in the Security Center installer. Integrators no longer have to install Sipelia separately on each server and client workstation. Everything is installed from one centralized location, simplifying the process and saving time and effort.
- Export and print maps
- You can now export and print your Security Center maps in PNG and PDF format. You can then distribute digital or physical copies for any purpose. For more details, see Exporting and printing maps.
- Adjust map object zoom levels independently
- You can now set the zoom level at which different map object types are displayed. This allows you to hide less significant map objects at a certain zoom percentage, making it easier to navigate through large, heavily populated maps. For more information, see Adjusting the information displayed on maps.
- Dashboard map widget
- With a map widget, you can access your Security Center maps directly from a Security Center dashboard. View a selected map and drag and drop map objects from the map into an open tile. For more information, see the Standard dashboard widgets.
Third-party authentication
- Assisted identity provider configuration
- To help set up third-party authentication with Azure Active Directory and Okta,
Security Center now provides a configuration wizard for assisted identity providers. It
guides you toward the information needed for the configuration. At each step, the configuration wizard helps you with the following tasks:
- Locating the properties in the Azure portal or Okta
- Understanding the significance of each property
- Validating properties before you proceed
- Accessing help topics
- Test logon tool
- You can now test your third-party authentication setup and troubleshoot issues with
the configuration. The Test logon tool shows what part of the authentication process
failed and provides logs and a browser console to help troubleshoot the issue. The tool
allows you to directly troubleshoot and fix issues with third-party authentication.
For more information, see Testing a third-party authentication setup.
- Modify role endpoints
- You can now modify the redirect and logout endpoints to access Security Center systems that are not accessible from the internet. You can also reset the user-defined URIs to default. For more information, see About role endpoints configuration.
