From the Monitoring task in Security Desk, you can monitor the occupancy of an instrumented area in real time.

To monitor an instrumented area in real time:

1. From the Security Desk homepage, open the Monitoring task.
2. To monitor an instrumented area in a monitoring tile, select an instrumented area to monitor:
   • From the entity tree, right-click an instrumented area and select Monitor entity.
   • From the entity tree, drag an instrumented area to a monitoring tile.
   • Click Monitoring ( ) and select a tile for the instrumented area.
   The instrumented area occupancy graphic opens in the tile.
3. To monitor an instrumented area on a map, drag an area with a map to a monitoring tile, and select the instrumented area.
   Tip: You can configure the instrumented area to show total count, percentage occupied, or both when displayed in a tile in the Monitoring task. To configure this, navigate to the Properties page of the associated instrumented area.
   The instrumented area occupancy graphic is displayed in a floating tile.

To configure an event-to-action based on occupancy change in an instrumented area:

1. From Config Tool, navigate to the Properties page of the instrumented area you are monitoring occupancy in.
2. In the High occupancy threshold field, define the number of objects that triggers high capacity events for this area.
3. From Security Desk, open the instrumented area in the Monitoring task.
4. Check the Security Center events associated with the instrumented area.
   NOTE: The information in the Description section of the event must be added to an event to action so that you are notified when the occupancy in the instrumented area changes.

   
5. Create an event to action that depends on the following conditions:
   • When instrumented area occupancy changes
   • Exact information from description section of event

   NOTE: For more info on creating event-to-actions, refer to Creating event-to-actions.
   Your event to action will trigger when the occupancy threshold is reached.
