The system uses specific events to update the presence of cardholders in the areas configured in your system and track their movements.
The system uses the following events to track the physical location of cardholders in your system over time, based on the area topology configured in your system. This information is reported in the People counting, Area presence, and Time and attendance tasks.
Event | Description | What the system does |

Access granted | Access through a door has been granted to a cardholder according to the access rules in place. | Places the cardholder at the side of the door where they badged. |
Access denied | A cardholder has been denied access. NOTE: This scenario
applies to all access denied reasons, except antipassback
violations.

Entry detected | A cardholder was granted access to a door or area, and their entry is detected. For this event to be reliable, an entry sensor must be configured on the door side where entry is to be detected. If no entry sensors are configured on the door, the event is generated based on the door sensor input. | Moves the cardholder through the door, into the area on the other side. |
Entry assumed | A cardholder was granted access to a door or area, and it was assumed that they entered because no door sensor is configured. | Moves the cardholder through the door, into the area on the other side. |
Area people count reset | A Security Desk user clicked Clear all in the People counting task. | Removes all cardholders from the selected area. |
Cardholder added to area | A Security Desk or an SDK client application user manually moved a cardholder into an area, such as with the Mustering task. For information about this task, see this link on the TechDoc Hub. | Places the cardholder inside the area. |
Cardholder removed from area | A Security Desk or SDK client application user manually removed a cardholder from an area, either using the People counting task or using the Mustering task. | Removes the cardholder from the area. |
