To prevent decoders from losing video after an Archiver failover event, you must perform some configuration steps after adding the decoders in Config Tool.

What you should know

This procedure is only required if Archiver failover is configured on your system.

If you have not performed the procedure and the Archiver role fails over, all monitors connected to decoders turn black when the primary Archiver server comes back online. If the primary Archiver server is already back online and your video is black, see [KBA-79028] Decoders stop displaying video after Archiver failover in Security Center.

Procedure

  1. On the primary Archiver server, open the Server Admin.
  2. Select the primary Archiver server and click Actions > Console > Commands.
  3. Expand Archiver Role commands and click ForceExecutionOnPrimary.
  4. To enable the ForceExecutionOnPrimary option, type true and click OK.
  5. If the operation is successful, you receive a Succeeded message.
  6. Repeat the steps for each server that hosts an Archiver role that manages a decoder.

Results

New decoders that you add in Security Center will not lose video after an Archiver failover event. If you change the primary Archiver server for an Archiver role, you must perform the procedure again.
