To use the Bosch KBD-UXF keyboard in Security Center, you must configure it in Security Desk.

Before you begin

  • Download and install the driver for the Bosch KBD-UXF keyboard on the workstation, and then restart the workstation. For more information, see your Bosch documentation.
  • Connect the keyboard to the workstation in virtual com port (VCOM) mode. In VCOM mode, the buttons on the keyboard do not light up when pressed. For more information, see your Bosch documentation.

What you should know

  • The Bosch KBD-UXF keyboard is supported in Security Center 5.11.3.6, and 5.12.1.0 and later.
  • The following diagram represent the keys on the Bosch KBD-UXF keyboard. Shaded keys are incompatible with Security Center.

Procedure

  1. From the Security Desk homepage, click Options > Peripherals > Keyboard.
  2. From the keyboard protocol list, select Bosch Universal XF.
  3. Obtain the serial port information related to the keyboard.
    1. In Windows, open Device Manager.
    2. In the Ports (COM & LPT) section, right-click USB CDC serial port emulation related to the keyboard and select Properties.
    3. Click the Port Settings tab.
    4. To obtain the communication port, click the Port settings tab, click Advanced, and obtain the communication port from the COM Port Number list.
  4. Go to Options > Peripherals > Keyboard > Serial port, configure the keyboard using the settings obtained from Device Manager.
    NOTE: The Baud rate field in Security Desk is equivalent to the Bits per second field in Device Manager.
  5. (Optional) For the keyboard to automatically connect to Security Desk when you logon, select the Connect to keyboard automatically on logon option.
  6. Click Connect.
  7. Verify that the keyboard is connected to Security Center.
    1. Move the joystick on the keyboard.
    2. In the Keyboard status section, click Refresh ().
    If the number changes in the Bytes received field, the keyboard is connected.
  8. Click Save.
