To enroll Bosch units on your Archiver using HTTP or HTTPS , you must configure specific settings in the Bosch extension.

What you should know

  • By default, Bosch units use the RCP+ command protocol. They also support the following transport protocols: TCP, HTTP, and HTTPS.
NOTE: HTTPS is the equivalent of the RCP+ over CGI protocol used by Bosch units.
  • When you add a Bosch unit, the TCP protocol is assumed by default. If the enrollment is successful, the Archiver automatically creates one of the following extensions using TCP as the transport protocol:
    Bosch
This extension is created when you add video units that use the Legacy (CPP7.3 and older) product type. These units use the HTTP protocol by default.
    Generic Plus
This extension is created when you add video units that use the Other (CPP13 and newer) product type. These units use the HTTPS protocol by default.
  • Depending on the certificate used on the camera, you might need to configure some advanced security settings. For more information, see Configuring HTTPS for video unit extensions.

Procedure

  1. Open the unit's webpage.
  2. Go to Configuration > Network > Network Access, and turn off the HTTP browser port and HTTPS browser port options.
  3. From the Video task in Config Tool, select the Archiver and click the Extensions tab.
  4. Add or select the extension related to the video unit.
  5. To enable HTTP on a video unit, do the following:
    1. In General > Command port, enter the HTTP browser port configured on the Bosch unit.
    1. From the Protocol list, select HTTP.
The default HTTP browser port is 80.
NOTE: This applies to units that use the Legacy (CPP7.3 and older) product type.
  6. To enable HTTPS on a video unit, do the following:
    1. In the Default logon section, turn on the Use HTTPS option.
    2. In the Port field, enter the HTTPS browser port configured on the Bosch unit.
The default HTTPS browser port is 443.
  7. In Discovery > Discovery port, enter the discovery port configured on your Bosch units.
  8. Set the rest of the fields according to what is configured on the Bosch unit.
For a description of those fields, see Archiver: Extensions tab.
  9. Click Apply.
Bosch units are automatically added to the system if they meet the following criteria:
    • The discovery port configured in the extension matches the discovery port of your Bosch units.
    • The units are located within the same subnet as that Archiver.
    • The command port and credentials configured in the extension match the command port and credentials of the units.
  10. Manually add any units that are not on the same subnet as the Archiver, or use a different command port or credentials.
For more information, see Adding video units manually.
