Adding a Bosch unit using a hostname - Security Center 5.9.0.0

You can add Bosch units using a Domain Name System (DNS) hostname instead of an IP address. This is useful when an encryption certificate cannot be created using an IP address as a common name.

1. From the Config Tool home page, open the Video task.
2. Click Add an entity () > Video unit.
   The Manual add dialog box opens.
3. Beside the IP address field, click Hostname.
4. Enter the Hostname for the camera.
5. Fill out the rest of the fields accordingly.
6. Click Apply.
7. (Optional) To change the hostname:
   1. From the Video task, select the unit and click Properties.
   2. In the Hostname field, type the new hostname.
   3. Click Apply.
      When you change the Hostname on the Properties page of the unit and the camera firmware is older than 6.20, the hostname is not pushed to the camera, and Security Center does not update DNS server records.
   NOTE:

   • If you change the IP address of a camera on the Properties page in Config Tool, the local IP is automatically changed on the device itself. However, the DNS server records are not changed. They must be updated with the new IP address, otherwise the camera might fail to connect.
   • If the Archiver is unable to resolve the hostname used, it will try to connect using the last known IP address. Bosch cameras using the RCP protocol will connect, but cameras using the HTTP protocol will not.
   • Bosch units that were already using a hostname to connect automatically have their hostname populated on the Properties page.
