Answer: All communication between the machine running the Security Center Web Client application, and the machine hosting the Web Server role, is performed over a secure HTTPS channel using the standard TCP port 443.

Port 443 is set to use HTTPS with a self-signed certificate. A certificate error is displayed in your web browser until you install an SSL certificate that is signed by a Certificate Authority such as VeriSign on the Security Center machine that hosts the Web Server role.
