Depending on whether you want to receive license plate read information in Genetec Patroller™, Security Center, or to an FTP or HTTP server, you must configure where the Sharp sends its LPR data accordingly.
What you should know
The default extension is None; you must select one of the available extensions to make sure that the Sharp sends its data somewhere.
Procedure
- Log on to the Sharp Portal.
- Click the Configuration page.
-
From the Extension drop-down list, select one of the
following:
- HTTP
- Send ALPR data to an HTTP server.
- FTP
- Send ALPR data to an FTP server.
- Patroller - Auto or vX.Y
- Send LPR data to Patroller. Select Auto if you are using the current version of Patroller, or select an older version of Patroller from the list (the Sharp is backward compatible).
- Security Center - Auto or vX.Y
- Send LPR data to Security Center. Select Auto if you are using the current version of Security Center, or select an older version of Security Center from the list (the Sharp is backward compatible).
NOTE: - If you selected HTTP as your extension, you can configure the system to send the data in XML or JSON format. For more information and examples of the exported XML and JSON files, see Configuring the Sharp unit's HTTP extension.
- If you selected FTP as your extension, you can configure the FTP XML template which can be integrated by third-party applications. For more information, see Configuring the SharpV FTP extension.
-
If you selected Security Center as your extension, configure
the following:
- Connect to Security Center
- Use this only if the autodiscovery of connected
Sharps does not work. You will need to enter the Hostname or IP
address and port of the Security
Center computer. For example, if a
Sharp is connected to a WiFi router, and
the Sharp’s IP address is then changed, the LPR Manager cannot detect the change
automatically, so you can use this to reconnect to the Security
Center computer. Once you've entered the
Hostname or IP address, click
to validate the connection. You will not be able to save your configuration if the connection is invalid.
- Discovery port
- Port on which the Sharp listens for discovery requests. This port
number must match the discovery port entered on the LPR Manager
Properties page.NOTE: When setting the discovery port, do not use port 5050 as it is reserved for the logger service.
- Control port
- Used in Security Center Config Tool when creating a new LPR unit (Sharp) manually.
- Update Provider port
- The Sharp receives updates from Security Center on this port. To update the Sharp, you need to enable the Update provider on the LPR Manager Properties page, and the port numbers must match.
- Accept remote reboot requests
- Select this so that you can reboot the Sharp from the LPR Unit Properties page.
- Click Save.
