In the Plate read section of the Sharp Portal Configuration page, you define the Reading mode of the SharpX cameras connected to the LPR Processing Unit. By default, the AutoVu system will capture plate reads continuously. This mode is the required reading mode for mobile AutoVu systems. Using Security Center event-to-actions or hot actions, you can also configure fixed AutoVu systems to capture plate reads when certain conditions are met, or when an external trigger is activated.
- If you have upgraded the SharpOS software on the Sharp camera, any triggers that were configured prior to SharpOS 11.3 will continue to function, however the Source and State of the trigger will not be editable. For full functionality, you must delete the existing trigger and add a new trigger.
- To control the outputs of the LPR Processing Unit using Security Center event-to-actions or hot actions, the SharpX video unit entity must be enrolled under the Archiver. It is no longer possible to control outputs if the LPR Processing Unit is enrolled under the LPR Manager.
Setting | Description |
---|---|
Reading mode: Continuous | The Continuous reading mode is generally used for
mobile AutoVu systems. It can also be used for fixed systems where no trigger
is configured to signal the system to start reading plates. Read
strategy: The following options are available:
|
Reading mode: Continuous with virtual loop | When a Sharp camera is set to the
reading mode Continuous with virtual loop, the Sharp generates a plate read event whenever
a vehicle is detected passing through the camera’s field of view. This allows
the Sharp to act in a similar fashion
to an induction loop installed under the road. Selecting the
Continuous with virtual loop reading mode for a
Sharp increases vehicle count
accuracy when recording occupancy in parking lots, particularly in areas or in
seasons that might have a higher rate of no-read events (for example, in muddy
or snowy weather conditions). If the camera fails to capture a vehicle’s
license plate, the plate number appears as NOPLATE in Security
Center, and no LPR image is
provided. For more information, see Investigating NOPLATE reads. Read strategy: The following options
are available:
|
Reading mode: Conditional | The Conditional reading mode captures continuous
plate reads from all SharpX cameras
while an input signal is detected on the LPR Processing Unit. Tip:
Instead of using the Conditional reading mode, consider using the
Multi-conditional reading mode, which offers more flexibility when creating
conditions.
Read strategy: The following
options are available:
Generates reads only when input (A, B, C, or D) is
(Off or On): Enables conditional plate reading that depends
on the auxiliary inputs on the LPR Processing Unit. When you select this
option, you must choose an input and state from the drop-down lists.
NOTE:
|
Reading mode: Multi-conditional | Using the Multi-conditional reading mode, you can control individual
cameras using the LPR Processing Unit's input pins. This means that you can
configure the system to generate reads from a specific SharpX camera after a
signal is received from an electrical trigger. Example: For a Patroller vehicle that includes four SharpX cameras, each camera could be activated manually by its own hardware toggle switch mounted in the vehicle. Read strategy: The following options
are available:
Generate reads from LPR camera when input A
is High/Low: Enables conditional plate reading that depends on
the auxiliary inputs on the LPR Processing Unit. Click Add new
condition to add as many conditions as you require, then
choose an input and state from the drop-down lists.
NOTE:
|
Reading mode: Single read on trigger | Using the Single read on trigger read mode, you can
configure the system to capture a plate read after a signal is received from an
electrical trigger, or after a Security Center event-to-action or hot action.
This configuration is designed for use with fixed AutoVu installations and is
ideal for controlling vehicle access to gated parking lots. If the trigger
device is not located in view of the camera, you can configure the plate read
capture to occur before or after the trigger is activated. NOTE: If the camera
fails to capture the plate, no LPR image is associated with the read and the
plate number NOPLATE is associated to the read. For more information, see Investigating NOPLATE reads.
Add trigger...: The following
options are available when adding a trigger:
