The self-signed certificate option offers quick activation and adequate security if the Synergis™ unit is used within a secure environment.

  1. Click Generate new self-signed certificate
A dialog box opens with options to restart now or later to finish the changes.
  2. Restart your browser and log back onto the Synergis™ unit.
NOTE: The certificate is now generated on the Synergis™ unit. For your browser to recognize the certificate, you must install it in the browser's certificate store:
  3. Click Configuration > Certificates
  4. Under Current certificate, click the Download button.
  5. In Windows, follow the instructions in the Certificate Import Wizard to import the certificate to the Trusted Root Certification Authorities folder using the Local Machine option.
Install the certificate on all machines that connect to the updated Synergis™ unit.
NOTE: The certificate file will be labeled as the hostname with a .cer suffix
  6. Restart your browser and log back onto the Synergis™ unit.

After you finish

Your Synergis™ unit will no longer show a security error in the address bar when connecting using hostname.
