To configure your Synergis™ appliance, log on to the appliance through the Synergis™ Appliance Portal.

Before you begin

The following information is required to log on for the first time:
Appliance hostname or IP address
The default hostname consists of SCL (for Synergis Cloud Link), followed by the appliance's MAC address. For example, SCL0010F32CF482. The MAC address can be found on the appliance's label.
Default username and password
The default username and password are admin and softwire. You are forced to create a new password on first logon.

Procedure

  1. (First logon only) Connect the Synergis appliance’s LAN 1 port to your LAN.
  2. Open a web browser.
  3. In the browser’s address bar, enter https:// followed by the Synergis appliance's hostname or IP address.
    Example: https://SCL0010F32CF482
    If you are unable to connect to your appliance using its hostname and you have not yet configured its IP address, then you should log on to the Synergis appliance using the alternate IP address.
  4. If you opened a new browser session to log on to the Synergis appliance, you get a certificate error message. Follow your browser’s on-screen instructions to continue to the website.
  5. Enter the username and password, and then click Log on.
    If you already changed the default password, the homepage is displayed. If you have not changed the default password, you are forced to create a new one before logging on.
  6. Enter a new Strong or Very strong password, confirm it, and then click Change password.

    The password is updated for the user, and you must log on using the new password.
