Before you can use OSDP readers with Synergis™ IX controllers, you must associate the
reader ports to the doors in Config Tool, and configure the readers in the Synergis™ IX
Portal.
What you should know
This procedure is for the following firmware versions:
- Synergis™ appliance firmware: Synergis™ Cloud Link 3.2.0 and
later, or Synergis™ Softwire 11.6.0 and later
- Synergis IX controller firmware: 4.00.1505_N1A3 and later
- Reader expander firmware: 1.12.599_N0D2 and later
If you’re using earlier firmware versions, either upgrade your device firmware or follow Configuring Synergis IX controllers to use OSDP readers with firmware 4.00.1143_M036 and earlier.
Procedure
-
In the Synergis IX Portal, configure the reader expander ports.
-
In the Config Tool Area view task, assign the new OSDP readers (in
and out) to a door from the door's Hardware page.
-
In the Synergis IX Portal, configure the Smart Reader Records.
-
Update the module to load the smart reader settings onto the reader expander.
-
Click and select the onboard reader or the reader expander that the OSDP
reader is connected to.
Ensure that the same door is mapped to the OSDP reader port, reader expander -
reader 1.
-
In the toolbar, click Restart to update the module.
-
In the Reader Expanders page, configure the Secure
Channel Communication.
Choose one of the following options:
-
Configure the OSDP reader in install mode.
-
Connect the reader wires to the Synergis IX module.
The reader's RS-485 A wire should be wired to the reader port's D0/N/A connection on
the Synergis IX module. The reader's RS-485 B wire should be wired to the reader port's
D1/NB connection on the Synergis IX module. For more information, see "Connecting OSDP
readers" in the
Configuring OSDP Readers in Synergis™ IX - Application
Note.
-
If you selected Secure mode with Random Key generation, do the following:
-
Click .
-
Select the reader expander record then click OSDP Install
Mode in the toolbar.
This action triggers a module update and places the module in install mode.
Results
The reader expander identifies the OSDP reader and automatically detects its baud rate
to establish a connection and pushes the configuration to the reader. The LED on the OSDP
reader turns blue, confirming that the configuration has been pushed successfully. Once the
OSDP reader has been successfully paired with the Synergis IX module, the reader install mode
switches off while the secure mode remains active.
