When Synergis™ IX is enabled in your system, you have extra door settings to configure in Config Tool and in the Synergis™ Appliance Portal.
Before you begin
- Create areas that you want to secure with Synergis IX.
- Create doors that you want to monitor and control.
- Add at least one perimeter door controlled by the Synergis IX controller under each area.
- Create the schedules for your access rules.
- Create access rules for your secured areas.
What you should know
- Door configurations are pushed from Security Center to Synergis IX controllers.
- For enabled door settings that take intrusion detection areas into account, ensure that the intrusion detection areas are mapped to secured areas in Config Tool.
- Starting in Synergis Cloud Link 3.2.0, the Door settings section is available on the Synergis IX controller settings page in the Synergis Appliance Portal. The Synergis IX controller settings page isn’t available for legacy Synergis Cloud Link units.
IMPORTANT: When configuring a two-door controller, follow the specific wiring instructions.
Procedure
-
From the Config Tool homepage, open the Area view task and select
the door (
) you want to configure.
- Click the Properties tab.
-
(Optional) Under the Door held section, enable the
Trigger event option, and then enable the Trigger
pre-alarm events option, and set the Pre-alarm delay
time.
The pre-alarm delay time is to allow the door to be left open for a certain period before it generates a pre-alarm condition. When the pre-alarm condition is reached, it typically activates an output on the reader expander that’s controlling the door.
- Click the Synergis™ IX tab.
-
In the General options section, configure the following:
- Always allow REX
- When this option is enabled, the door processes a request to exit even when the
door is already open. This activates the lock, but doesn't reset the door forced or
door open too long alarms. When this option is disabled, the REX function only
operates when the door is closed.NOTE: This option is useful when the lock output is controlling an automatic door opener. This allows the door to begin opening again if the REX is pushed while it's closing. However, some locks, such as maglocks, should remain locked while the door is open to prevent the door from bouncing when it's closed.
- Recycle door open time on REX
- When this option is enabled, users can press the REX input while the door is open
to reset the time that it's allowed to be left open. If the pre-alarm has started,
pressing the REX button silences the pre-alarm. However, if the door left open alarm
has already been activated, pressing the REX doesn't reset the timer.Example: If the Door left open alarm time is set to 45 seconds, pressing the REX button during this period resets the timer, allowing the door to be open for an extra 45 seconds. The Always allow REX option must also be enabled.
- Recycle REX time
- When this option is enabled, pressing the REX button while the door is unlocked by
REX resets the lock activation time so that the door remains unlocked for
longer.Example: If the Lock activation time is set to 5 seconds, pressing the REX button during this period resets the timer, allowing the lock to remain open for another 5 seconds. This feature only applies when the door has been unlocked by REX. The Always allow REX option must also be enabled.
- Maintain REX
- When this option is enabled, the door remains unlocked for as long as the REX button is held down. When the REX button is released, the door locks again after the REX activation time. Holding down the REX button also prevents the door left open timer from starting, so that the door can be held open indefinitely without activating an alarm.
- Pulse reader beeper on REX
- When this option is enabled, the readers associated with the door beep twice when the REX button is pressed. When this option is disabled, there's no audible response from the request to exit function.
- Door forced sends door open
- When this option is enabled, when the door is forced open, meaning it was opened
without being unlocked, it's processed as a door open status. When this option is
disabled, the door forced status is processed as normal. This can be used in
situations where the door might be opened without being controlled by the
controller.Example: Some doors have a physical key override to manually unlock the door, which would normally cause a door forced alarm.
-
In the Schedule options section, configure the following:
- Always check unlock schedule
- Enabling this option causes the door to latch unlock when the unlock schedule is
valid, and lock when the schedule is invalid. While the schedule is valid, if the
door is locked by another function, it immediately unlocks again. This prevents the
door from being manually locked when it should be
unlocked.Toggling this option on and off forces the Synergis IX
controller to re-evaluate the schedule state of the door.Limitation:
- Using the Prevent unlock on schedule if inside area armed and Prevent unlock on schedule if outside area armed options with this option prevents the door from unlocking while the schedule is valid, but does not relock the door when the area is armed. To relock the door when the area is armed, use the Area disarmed and schedule valid, unlock door option instead.
- This option overrides Door manually unlocked and Door locked events in Security Center.
- This option overrides activating the relay to either lock or unlock a door from the Devices page under I/O diagnostics in the Synergis Appliance Portal.
- This option overrides maintenance mode.
- Enable open/close events on schedule
- By default, when the door is unlocked or locked by the unlock schedule, an event is logged. Disable this option to prevent these regular events from being logged, saving space in the event database. These events are not considered in our integration.
- Schedule operates late to open
- When enabled, the door doesn’t unlock on schedule until the first access has been
accepted at the door.
When this option is enabled, the door doesn't latch unlock when the schedule is valid until a user or operator unlocks the door. This can be used to prevent the door from automatically unlocking on days when nobody arrives on site. This option overrides the Always check unlock schedule option, and you must disable the Area disarmed and schedule valid, unlock door and Area disarmed or schedule valid, unlock door options.
-
In the Lock/Unlock options section, configure the following:
- Door lock follows inside area
- Enable this option to use the Area inside door with the Area disarmed and schedule valid, unlock door or Area disarmed or schedule valid, unlock door option. When this option is enabled, you must disable the Door lock follows outside area option, and enable either the Area disarmed and schedule valid, unlock door or Area disarmed or schedule valid, unlock door option.
- Door lock follows outside area
- Enable this option to use the Area outside door with the Area disarmed and schedule valid, unlock door or Area disarmed or schedule valid, unlock door option. When this option is enabled, you must disable the Door lock follows inside area option, and enable either the Area disarmed and schedule valid, unlock door or Area disarmed or schedule valid, unlock door option.
- Prevent unlock on schedule if inside area armed
- When this option is enabled, if the unlock schedule becomes valid but the door's inside area is still armed, the door doesn't unlock. This can be used to prevent a door from unlocking on days when no one arrives to disarm the area. The Area disarmed and schedule valid, unlock door and Area disarmed or schedule valid, unlock door options must be disabled.
- Prevent unlock on schedule if outside area armed
- When this option is enabled, if the unlock schedule becomes valid but the door's outside area is still armed, the door doesn't unlock. This can be used to prevent a door from unlocking on days when no one arrives to disarm the area. The Area disarmed and schedule valid, unlock door and Area disarmed or schedule valid, unlock door options must be disabled.
- Area disarmed and schedule valid, unlock door
- When this option is enabled, the door automatically latch unlocks when both the
unlock schedule is valid and the relevant area is disarmed. When the schedule
becomes invalid or the area is armed, the door automatically locks. If the door is
latch unlocked or locked by any other feature, it immediately returns to the correct
state. The relevant area is determined by the Door lock follows inside
area or Door lock follows outside area options.NOTE:
- This option overrides Door manually unlocked and Door locked events in Security Center.
- This option overrides activating the relay to either lock or unlock a door from the Devices page under I/O diagnostics in the Synergis Appliance Portal.
- Area disarmed or schedule valid, unlock door
- When this option is enabled, the door automatically latch unlocks when either the
unlock schedule is valid or the relevant area is disarmed. When the schedule becomes
invalid or the area is armed, the door automatically locks. If the door is latch
unlocked or locked by any other feature, it immediately returns to the correct
- Enable access on REX/REN events
- With this option enabled, when a request to exit (REX) or request to enter (REN)
is registered at the door, the system records whether the requested access was taken
or not taken, and corresponding events are logged in the Synergis IX Portal. Access
is considered taken when a door sensor detects entry.Example: If the REX button is pressed and then the door is opened, a Request to Exit Taken event is logged in the Synergis IX Portal. If the door is not opened, a Request to Exit Not Taken event is logged in the Synergis IX Portal. These events are ignored in our integration, so no corresponding events are generated in Security Center.
-
In the Advanced options section, configure the following:
- Lock out REX when inside area armed
- When this option is enabled, the door denies any request to exit made when the
inside area is armed. This can be used to prevent people from exiting an armed area.
Users can still exit with a valid credential.NOTE: When this option is enabled, only the REX configured on Door side Out is locked out.
- Deny entry if inside area is armed
- When enabled, the door denies entry if the inside area is armed.
- Deny exit if outside area is armed
- When enabled, the door prevents any exit if the outside area is armed.
- Prompt user for access reason code
- When enabled, the user is prompted on the reader expander's associated keypad to enter their reason for access. The user must enter the reason before access is granted.
- Enable access on door unlock events
- With this option enabled, when a user is granted access at the door, the system
records whether the requested access was taken or not and corresponding events are
generated in the Synergis IX Portal and in Security Center. Access is considered
taken when a door sensor detects entry.Example: If a card is badged and then the door is opened, an Access Taken event is logged in the Synergis IX Portal, and a corresponding Entry detected event is generated in Security Center. If the door is not opened, an Access Not Taken event is logged in the Synergis IX Portal, and a corresponding No entry detected event is generated in Security Center. When this option is disabled, the system doesn't indicate whether or not access was taken.
- Update user area when passback disabled
- (Not yet supported) When enabled, the door updates the user's current area, even if the door isn’t programmed with card antipassback. This can be used to track the last area the user entered.
- Keypad address
- The RS-485 physical address of the keypad you want associated to this door.
- Click Apply.
- Log on to the Synergis Cloud Link unit.
- Click Configuration > Synergis IX controller settings.
-
In the Door settings section, configure the following:
- Single held open mode
- When enabled, only one alarm is triggered when multiple Door open too long events are generated for the same door.
- Disable door held open events while unlocked by a function
- When enabled, Door open too long events aren't generated if the Synergis IX controlled door was unlocked through a programmable function. If you change this setting, a Synergis Softwire restart is required.
- Click Save.
