To monitor intrusion detection areas with Synergis™ IX controllers, you must first create them as areas in their controller's respective Synergis™ IX Portal.

What you should know

All intrusion detection areas that you wish to monitor with Synergis IX controllers must first be created as areas through the Synergis IX Portal. When you enroll a Synergis IX controller in Security Center through a Synergis™ Cloud Link unit, the areas you created in Synergis IX Portal are imported as intrusion detection areas in Security Center.

Procedure

  1. Log on to the Synergis IX controller.
  2. In the portal menu, click Programming > Areas.
Two areas are created by default on each Synergis IX controller: System Area and Area 1.
    Synergis IX Portal, Areas page.
  3. Configure the System Area.
The System Area is used to monitor trouble inputs, which are automatically assigned to this area.
    1. Click System Area > Configuration.
    2. Set the Entry Time, Alternate Entry Time, Exit Time, and Alarm Time to 0.
    3. Click Save ().
These steps ensure that the System Area can be armed and disarmed immediately upon request, and that it doesn’t activate an audible alarm.
  4. Configure Area 1 as your first intrusion detection area.
You can delete Area 1. But we recommend that you rename it and configure it as one of your intrusion detection areas. Make the following changes if necessary.
    • (Optional) Click Configuration, and change the default timing options.
    • (Optional) Click Option1 and configure the general and reporting options.
    • (Optional) Click Option2 and configure the advanced and arming options.
NOTE: Only the essential settings are described here. For more information on using the Synergis™ IX Portal, see Using Synergis™ IX - Programming Reference Manual . You can access it by clicking Help in the Synergis™ IX Portal.
  5. Create more intrusion detection areas:
    1. Click Add (), enter the Name of the area, and click Save ().
    2. Change the default settings as needed.
    3. Click Save ().
    4. Repeat the previous three steps as necessary.
  6. To receive intrusion area events in Security Center from Synergis IX for each new intrusion detection area:
    1. Click the new intrusion detection area.
    2. Click the Reporting Services tab.
    3. In the Reporting Services section, click Add.
    4. In the Services dialog box, select ReportIP Service, and then click OK.
    5. Click Save ().
  7. In the portal menu, click Wizards > Security Wizard.
    CAUTION:
Using the wizard disarms all areas and disables 24-hour monitoring.
  8. After confirming that it’s safe to proceed, click Yes.
The wizard lists all configured areas.
  9. Configure the outputs associated to each area:
    Bell Output and Time
The output that's triggered when the area alarm is activated, and the time it’s activated for.
    Entry Delay Output and Time
The output that's activated whenever the area goes into entry delay, and the time users are given to disarm the area before an alarm is triggered.
    Exit Delay Output and Time
The output that's activated whenever the area goes into exit delay, and the time users are given to exit the area before an alarm is triggered.
  10. Click Save and Continue.
The wizard lists each of the inputs managed by your controller.
  11. Rename each of the input to provide a more meaningful description for easier identification.
  12. Select the End of Line Resistors according to those used when wiring the EOL configuration.
  13. Select the Input Type to define how an input operates in an area.
For example, Delay goes into entry delay when triggered, whereas Instant activates immediately.
  14. Select the Area the input is assigned to.
  15. Click Save and Continue.
  16. Configure offsite monitoring.
  17. Click Save and Return to Menu.
    The modules are automatically restarted.
