You can download the backup files of the Synergis IX units under your Synergis Cloud Link™ unit as a compressed file to provide to Genetec™ Technical Support for troubleshooting purposes.

What you should know

  • Your Synergis Cloud Link unit must be running Synergis Cloud Link 3.1.0 or later. The legacy Synergis Cloud Link unit does not support this feature.
  • Downloaded backup files cannot be used to restore a Synergis IX unit's configuration; they are used by Technical Support for troubleshooting purposes only.

Procedure

  1. Log on to the Synergis Cloud Link unit.
  2. Click Maintenance > Download Synergis IX backup.
  3. Do one of the following:
    • Select one or more backup files, and then click Download selected.
    • Click Download all.
    The Synergis IX backup files dialog box opens.
  4. Enter a strong password and confirm the password, and then proceed with the download.
    NOTE: This button remains disabled if the password is not strong enough or if the confirmation password does not match.

Results

The backup files are compressed into an encrypted .sfd file. This file can only be decrypted by Technical Support.
