Connect to the Synergis™ IX controller through the Synergis™ IX Portal to configure its downstream modules and the intrusion detection areas it manages.

Before you begin

Connect your Synergis IX controller to the network.
IMPORTANT: Do not set up the SNTP Time server on the Synergis IX, the Synergis™ Cloud Link keeps the controller time in sync based on the Access Manager server.

What you should know

  • The controller is factory-set to DHCP mode. The hostname is SIX followed by its MAC address. The MAC address is found by using the prefix 00:1B followed by the serial number. The serial number is on the label of the controller. For example, if the label says B243D4E6, then the MAC address is 00:1B:B2:43:D4:E6 and the default hostname for that controller is SIX001BB243D4E6.
  • The default IP address is 192.168.1.2. It only applies if you factory default the controller.
  • For firmware 4.00.528 and later, you need to create an Admin user on the first logon.
  • Starting in Synergis™ Softwire 11.3.3, you can open the Synergis IX Portal from the Synergis™ Appliance Portal by navigating to Configuration > Hardware, and then clicking the controller's IP address. The Synergis IX Portal opens in a new tab.
    NOTE: If the Synergis IX certificate is self-signed, then the Synergis IX Portal is not accessible from the Synergis Appliance Portal opened in Config Tool.

Procedure

  1. Open a web browser.
  2. In the browser’s address bar, type https:// followed by the controller's hostname or IP address.
    For example, https://SIX001BB243D4E6.
  3. (New browser session only) If you opened a new browser session to log on to the Synergis IX controller, you get a certificate error message.
    Follow your browser’s on-screen instructions to continue to the website. You will not see the message again unless you close and re-open your browser to log on to the appliance.
    NOTE: When a controller is first connected or has been factory defaulted, it waits for the DHCP server to assign it an IP address. But if DHCP is not available, the IP and network configuration can be programmed manually. You must first temporarily default the controller's IP address to 192.168.111.222 so that you can log on and configure the settings.   4. (First logon only) Create an Admin user.
    If it is your first time logging on, or if you have performed a factory default, the Synergis IX Portal prompts you to create a first Admin user. For more information, see "Logging In For the First Time" in the Using Synergis™ IX - Programming Reference Manual .
  5. Enter the username and password, then click Log On.
