If your Synergis™ IX controller fails, you can replace it with a new one. To speed up configuration of the new Synergis IX controller, you can restore the configuration of the old controller on the new controller using the Synergis™ Appliance Portal.

Before you begin

Ensure that the Synergis IX controller has been backed up using the Synergis Appliance Portal.

What you should know

  • To restore the configuration from the Synergis Appliance Portal, your Synergis™ Cloud Link unit must be running Synergis Cloud Link 3.1.0 or later. The legacy Synergis Cloud Link unit does not support this feature.
IMPORTANT: For the configuration restoration to complete successfully, you cannot change the Synergis IX unit name.
  • After a successful unit replacement, the following occurs:
    • Intrusion zones are disarmed by default.
    • OSDP readers at the controller level must be paired again to the new hardware. OSDP readers at the reader expander level continue working as normal.
    • In Security Center, entity names still show the IP address of the old Synergis IX unit.

Procedure

  1. Physically connect the devices to the new Synergis IX controller.
  2. Log on to the new Synergis™ IX Portal, and then create an Admin user.
  3. In the Synergis Appliance Portal, configure the following:
    1. Click the Configuration tab.
    2. On the Hardware configuration page, click the Synergis IX unit to expand the Channels column, and then click Pencil next to the unit.
    3. In the dialog box that opens, configure the following:
      IP address
If applicable, enter the IP address of the new Synergis IX unit.
      Username
Enter the username of the new Synergis IX unit.
      Password
Enter the password of the new Synergis IX unit.
      HTTPS public key
      Clear the field.
    4. Click Save.
The new Synergis IX unit comes online within two minutes.
  4. Restore the controller configuration:
    1. In the Synergis Appliance Portal, click Maintenance > Download Synergis IX backup.
    2. Next to the latest backup file created for the unit, click Restore unit.
The message Restoration operation completed is displayed.
  5. Wait two minutes, and then power cycle all modules, including keypads, and the Synergis IX controller.
  6. (Optional) Reinstall previously installed custom HTTPS certificates.

After you finish

  • In the Synergis IX Portal, verify that the configuration was restored correctly.
  • If applicable, in Config Tool, update the entity names containing the old Synergis IX IP address on the Peripherals page of the Synergis Cloud Link unit.
