If your Synergis™ IX controller fails, you can replace it with a new one. To speed up configuration of the new Synergis IX controller, you can restore the configuration of the old controller on the new controller, using a backup file.
Before you begin
What you should know
- Intrusion zones are disarmed by default.
- OSDP readers at the controller level must be paired again to the new hardware. OSDP readers at the reader expander level continue working as normal.
- In Security Center, entity names still show the IP address of the old Synergis IX unit.
Procedure
- Physically connect the devices to the new Synergis IX controller.
- In the Synergis™ IX Portal, create a new Admin user.

Restore the controller configuration:
- In the Synergis IX Portal, click .
- Click Restore Controller.
- From the pop-up window that opens, navigate to the Synergis IX backup file (.bak) and click Open.
- Power cycle all modules, including keypads, and the Synergis IX controller.
- (Optional) Reinstall previously installed custom HTTPS certificates.

After you finish
- In the Synergis IX Portal, verify that the configuration was restored correctly.
- If applicable, in Config Tool, update the entity names containing the old Synergis IX IP address on the Peripherals page of the Synergis™ Cloud Link unit.
