For optimal performance, ensure that your Synergis™ IX controllers and reader expanders are running the recommended firmware.
Before you begin
What you should know
- Synergis IX controllers can be upgraded through the Synergis™ IX Portal, or through the
Synergis™ Appliance Portal like other interface modules.
For more information, see Upgrading Synergis IX firmware for compatibility with Synergis Softwire 11.2.0 and later
- For security reasons, starting in Synergis IX controller firmware 4.00.965_M0A1, firmware downgrades are no longer possible.
About upgrading reader expanders:
- Synergis IX reader expanders must be upgraded through the Synergis IX Portal.
- If the reader expander runs firmware version earlier than 1.12.535, to prevent upgrade failure, you must physically disconnect all readers from the reader expander's RS-485 ports before upgrading.
IMPORTANT: Updating reader expander firmware puts the controller into
maintenance mode, preventing normal activity during the update process. The firmware must
not be updated remotely.
Procedure

Download the latest Synergis IX firmware from the
GTAP Product Download page:
