Before you can configure access rules, you must first configure a PIN for the Synergis™ IX installer, and a PIN and a card credential for the sample Synergis IX user.

Before you begin

Create Synergis IX cardholder groups.

Procedure

To create a Synergis IX installer with a PIN that has limited access from the intrusion keypad:

  1. From the Config Tool homepage, open the Access control task, and click the Cardholders and credentials.
  2. Click Add an Entity () and select Cardholder.
  3. In the Cardholder information page, enter the first name and the last name of the cardholder.
  4. Click Member of, select the cardholder group for Synergis IX installers, and click Next.
  5. In the Credential creation page, click Create the credential for this cardholder now and then click Next.
  6. In the Credential creation mode page, click Create a credential manually and then click Next.
  7. In the Basic information page, verify the cardholder name and description and click Next.
  8. In the Manual creation page, select PIN and enter the installer PIN.
  9. In the Summary page, verify the cardholder and credential details and click Create.

To create a sample Synergis IX user with a card credential:

  1. From the Access control task, click Add an Entity () and select Cardholder.
  2. In the Cardholder information page, enter the first name and the last name of the cardholder.
  3. Click Member of, select the cardholder group for regular Synergis IX users, and click Next.
  4. In the Credential creation page, click Create the credential for this cardholder now and then click Next.
  5. In the Credential creation mode page, click Create a credential automatically and then click Next.
  6. In the Automatic creation page, click Enrollment device and select Door.
  7. Click Access point and select the door you previously created in the Configuring the Synergis IX-controlled doors section.
  8. Click Next.
  9. In the Summary page, verify the cardholder and credential details and click Create.

To create a PIN for the sample Synergis IX user:

  1. From the Config Tool homepage, open the Cardholder management task.
  2. Select the sample Synergis IX user and click Modify ().
  3. Click Add a credential and select PIN.
  4. Enter the sample PIN and click OK > Save and close.
  5. In the Summary page, verify the cardholder and credential details and click Create.

Results

NOTE: When the Synergis IX controller is connected to the Synergis™ Cloud Link appliance and added in Security Center, the rights of the default master and installer users set in Synergis IX are removed. This action prevents users from modifying or deleting cardholders through the intrusion keypad. These operations should only be done through Config Tool.
