AutoVu™ SharpV cameras are capable of reading license plates from passing vehicles. When a SharpV camera is installed in a fixed location with a view of vehicle license plates as they approach a vehicle access barrier, plate reads from the camera can be used as credentials in Security Center. If the plate number matches a user's credentials, the system triggers the barrier to allow access to the vehicle.

To use license plates as credentials, a Synergis Cloud Link unit must be connected through the network with the SharpV camera. The SharpV camera is enrolled on the Synergis Cloud Link and communicates with Security Center. The following image shows a system that includes a SharpV and a Synergis Cloud Link appliance.

NOTE: As an alternative to using a Synergis Cloud Link appliance to control the gate using license plates as credentials, you can also use the ALPR gate control method, which uses hotlists and event-to-actions to control the gate.
