System Availability Monitor

System Availability Monitor (SAM) is made of several components that communicate with each other. The components collect health information from Security Center, send the information to the cloud, and report the information to the users.

The following diagram illustrates the flow of data between the SAM components.

NOTE: All communication between the services, either on the directory, the cloud or between the two, is done using a secure, encrypted channel.
System Availability Monitor Agent
The component of SAM that is installed on every Security Center main server. When System Availability Monitor Agent is activated, it collects health information from Security Center and sends health information asynchronously to the Health Monitoring Services that reside in the cloud. For this reason, it requires a connection to the Internet. By default the health data is sent every 15 minutes.
IMPORTANT: It relies on the Health Monitor Health Monitor role to receive directory, role and hardware unit health events. If the role is deactivated, the information displayed on GTAP will not be up to date.
Health Report Services
Used by GTAP to query health data from the Health Cloud Service, so that certified users can see, through GTAP, the information pertaining to the systems they manage.
Health Monitoring Services
Used to receive and store health information from all agents installed and activated on Security Center systems and calculate system and entity availability data.
Genetec Inc. Portal, Technical Assistance Site
Used to see the eligible systems, activate the monitoring for specific systems, and view availability information and health issues.
Auto-Update Services
Provides the Genetecâ„¢ Update Service and the System Availability Monitor Agent (SAMA) System Availability Monitor (SAM) with the latest software changes made by Genetec Inc.
Genetecâ„¢ Update Service
Included in the System Availability Monitor Agent installation package and ensures that both the agent and the Genetecâ„¢ Update Service always stay up to date. The service checks for new versions of the software 15 minutes after a restart, and every 6 to 12 hours afterward.
