Before you can use generic USB scanners at sites where there are limitations on installing software, you must connect KeyGrabber MultiLogger devices to workstations, and then connect the scanners to the devices.
Ensure that your KeyGrabber is correctly configured and connected to your network. For more information, see the documentation that came with your KeyGrabber device.
Before you begin
A KeyGrabber MultiLogger device is connected to a USB port on the workstation.
What you should know
NOTE: For the best performance, use one scanner per KeyGrabber device.
On your local machine, use a text editor to create a CONFIG.TXT
file that includes the static IP address you are using for the KeyGrabber device.
For more information on editing the configuration file, see the documentation that came with your device.
Connect the KeyGrabber device to the USB port on the workstation using a mini-USB to
USB-A cable, and then start the unit.
The device appears in Windows Explorer as a removable drive.
- Upload the CONFIG.TXT file to the device.
- Eject the drive and disconnect the device.
- Connect the scanner, the KeyGrabber device, and the workstation as described in the documentation that came with your device.
- Power up the device.
Your KeyGrabber device is ready to be used with the scanner.
