To receive transaction data from a point-of-sale system in the Transaction Finder plugin, you must install a parser.

Before you begin

  • Obtain the Transaction Finder parser installation package from your Genetec™ representative.
  • Download and install the plugin.
  • Close Security Desk and Config Tool.
  • Take note of the administrator username and password on the Security Center server that hosts the Transaction Finder plugin.

What you should know

  • A parser converts the data from your POS system into a format that can be read by Security Center.
  • Parsers can be set up locally or remotely. Remote parsers must not be installed on the plugin server.
  • For a list of supported POS systems, consult the Supported plugins in Security Center.

Procedure

  1. Open the Transaction Finder parser installation package.
  2. Follow the installation instructions.
  3. On the Custom setup page, do the following:
    1. Select the type of parser that you want to install.
    2. If you are installing the parser on a different server than the Transaction Finder plugin, select the Remote mode option.
  4. On the Credentials for parser configuration page, enter your username and password.
  5. On the InstallShield Wizard Completed page, click Finish.

Results

The parser is nested under the Transaction Finder plugin role in the entity browser.
