You can replace a Security Center camera in the case of failure, planned maintenance, or upgrade.

Before you begin

  • Make sure that the Archiver role is online. For more information, see Entity states.
  • You need the Modify video unit properties privilege to replace cameras.
  • You need the modification privileges for all entities that are updated by the Unit replacement tool:
    • Modify door properties
    • Modify alarm properties
    • Modify event-to-actions
    • Modify automation properties
    • Map designer
    • Modify scheduled task properties

A warning is displayed if you lack a required privilege. If you continue, the camera replacement operation fails.

What you should know

  • The Unit replacement tool transfers the following configurations from the old camera to the new camera:
    • Associations to alarm and door entities
    • Direct references found in automations, event-to-actions, and scheduled tasks
    • Links to map objects
IMPORTANT: The configurations that are transferred depend on the Security Center version installed. If the old camera is associated with entities not listed above, you must manually re-create those associations for the new camera.
  • You can create an automation using the Unit replaced event to issue reminders.
