Why are exported video files showing "obsolete algorithm" for digital signatures?
Answer: To provide stronger protection against tampering and fraud, video digital signatures are signed with the more secure Edwards-curve Digital Signature Algorithm (Ed25519) starting in Security Center 5.8.1.1 and 5.9.0.0. Video files that were recorded in earlier versions of Security Center were signed using the RSA algorithm.
Untampered video files that were recorded on a Security Center 5.4 - 5.8.1.0 system still pass validation. In the Security Desk Vault, the Digital signature status of the exported files is shown as File digitally signed and authenticated with obsolete algorithm.
For video files that were recorded on a Security Center 5.3 system or earlier, the digital signature is invalid. For more information, see [KBA-78942] Digital signatures cannot be verified for exported video files that were recorded in Security Center 5.2 or 5.3.
