To enable a secured connection between the plugin and the deister system, deister Commander must have a valid certificate installed. If this certificate is self-signed, you must also install it into the Trusted Root Certification Authorities store on the plugin server.

Procedure

  1. If you do not already have a valid TLS certificate for the deister system, obtain one from a trusted certificate authority or create a self-signed certificate on the deister server.
For help on how to deploy a certificate, contact your IT department. You can also see an example method at the Microsoft website.
  2. Install the certificate on your deister Commander server. For more information, see the Integration of an SSL certificate application note from deister Commander Connect Technical Documentation.
  3. On your Security Center server, open a web browser and navigate to the HTTPS endpoint for deister Commander.
By default, the URL is https://<hostname>:8443/proxSafeWebService2/services/WebService.WebServiceHttpsSoap11Endpoint, where <hostname> is the host name of your deister Commander server.
NOTE: If the certificate you installed in step 2 is from a trusted certificate authority, then the connection is secure and you do not need to do the following steps.
  4. If the site is not secure, then click Not secure, and then click Certificate is not valid.
A web browser displaying a Not secure message in the address bar and an error message.
NOTE: The certificate export method and security status messages might vary between web browsers.
  5. In the window that opens, click Details, click Export, and then save the certificate to the hard drive.
The certificate viewer window with the Details and Export buttons highlighted.
  6. Import the certificate that you exported in step 5 to the Trusted Root Certification Authorities store on the Security Center server.
    1. In Windows, select Run from the Start menu.
    2. Enter certlm.msc and click OK.
The Certificates - Local Computer window opens.
    3. In the left-hand pane, right-click Trusted Root Certificate Authorities, mouse over All Tasks, and click Import.
    4. Follow the instructions in the Certificate Import Wizard.

Results

You can now connect Security Center to deister Commander using a secure HTTPS connection.
